The Main Causes Of Floods
Here at Royal Restoration, we’ve helped countless home and business owners when they’ve had flooded property. One of the first steps of flood restoration is determining the cause of the flood. We’ve seen floods caused by many different factors, such as:
- Burst pipes
- Overflowing baths, sinks, or toilets
- Leaky foundation
- Sump pump failure
- Water heater failure
- Melting ice and snow, especially if you’ve struggled with ice dams
- Severe rain
- Strong storms
- Grading issues
- And more
Floods are typically caused by external factors, but sometimes, they can occur from issues within your home. Regardless of the cause of the flood, quick action is essential in order to return your property to safety and minimize the damage as much as possible.
What Type Of Water Is Harmful?
Unless you know what kind of water your flood is, it’s best to stay away from the affected areas and leave flood cleanup to the professionals at Royal Restoration. This is because some water is hazardous and can pose health threats, necessitating proper protective equipment in order to deal with it.
- Clean water, as it sounds, is safe, and does not usually carry any exposure risks with it. This kind of flood water usually comes from melted snow, failed appliances, or leaking tanks. Though initially clean, this water can go bad within a mere 48 hours, necessitating rapid clean-up in order to preserve the health and safety of your building.
- Grey water refers to waste water that does not have sewage. It usually comes from washing, and needs protection in order to be cleaned up, especially to prevent contamination. Once cleaned up, the flooded area must be treated with decontaminates.
- Black water is also known as sewage water, and can also have parasites and toxins. If your flood is the result of an overflowing toilet or backed up sewer, it’s likely black water, and requires protective gear in order to clean up, as well as intensive decontamination treatments after the fact.

What Our Clients Say...
The team was vey professional, knowledgeable and courteous. Great service all the way around.
At a time of full panic mode and very late at night, Royal arrived and took over. They knew what needed done and their staff were great. Before they left I felt better about the situation. Thank you very much!
Highly recommend Royal Restoration. Michael and his team helped us out in a pinch and were very prompt and professional with clear communication to help put our minds at ease. They did exactly what they said they were going to do and when they said they were going to do it. They provided top notch service and quality work and were a joy to work with; even in a not so joyous event with a flood at our house.
Came home from a trip to 4” standing water in basement. Royal came ASAP and worked through the night to get the water up. Juan was awesome to work, Spencer and Derek worked extremely hard and were very professional for the days after in getting all of the water up/dried and everything removed.
We loved working with Royal Restoration! They were extremely knowledgeable with what we needed and how to deal with our insurance. Very prompt and most importantly, very clean! I could not recommend them enough!
We had quite the debacle with our home warranty company, but Royal Restoration went above and beyond (which I recognize they didn't have to). We had absolutely no issue with the work that was done by them. The company was prompt, friendly and did the job as needed. I know you never want to need a restoration company, but when the time comes we need one again, we will be using Royal Restoration. And in the meantime, we will refer them to our neighbors and friends.
Due to a sprinkler leak in our backyard, water flowed into our basement through a window well and totally flooded our family room, bedroom, and game room! We called Royal and a representative was there within an hour to assess the damage. Dallan contacted our insurance company, got a case number and had a crew here shortly after. Spencer, Preston, and Derek quickly removed the damaged carpet pad and set up equipment in all three rooms and saved our carpeting. Royal representatives kept in close contact with us throughout the entire five day process. We are so grateful and appreciative of this great restoration company!
So grateful for the work this company did. After Ida our house was drenched and mold was growing everywhere. In less then 2 days my house was gutted to the studs. Mold treatment and water mitigation followed and a week later we are ready to rebuild.
[Royal Restoration] came by after the recent rainstorm that flooded the basement. Because our basement doesn’t have a carpet pad we were mostly just worried about mold in the walls. Chris gave advice on how we could do things ourselves and if not was very upfront with his price and next steps. They are very honest and show they want what’s best for their customers. Would recommend for anyone to contact them for a consult.
Rapid Flood Restoration Clean-Up Services
Floods are often significantly more damaging than they first appear. Not only is there all the water damage, which can destroy your carpets, your walls, your furniture, and more, but there’s also high risk for mold and mildew growth. Because water and flood damage often go hand-in-hand with mold growth, Royal Restoration not only provides flood clean-up services, but mold remediation services, as well.
When your property floods, timing is everything. The sooner you contact the professionals at Royal Restoration to come out and clean up the flood and start on the water damage restoration process, the more secondary damages you can avoid.
